CFOs, CIOs and “The Era of Disruption”

CIOs, CFOs Era of Disruption resized 600Computerworld columnist Thornton May declared recently that organizations are experiencing a frenzy of restructuring. New leadership, new leadership titles, and transitions represent a great opportunity for organizations to reconsider how traditional and emerging C-level positions integrate with one another.

In Thornton’s Era of Disruption, speed of decision-making is paramount. It’s imperative that all C-level personnel have access to the most accurate information possible. Label it as you’d like – business intelligence, analytics, data mining, business performance management – but its greatest value will come from that combination of speed, accuracy, and sharing of information.

As companies turn over their leadership, they shouldn’t just assume old job descriptions and titles. Finance, for example, impacts and is impacted by nearly every corner of the company. Because of that, new leaders should ensure that the org chart allows for inter-connected leadership roles.

Don’t let this Era of Disruption get the best of you. Use it to your advantage to ensure your organization is capitalizing on how its leaders can integrate and take the company to a whole new level.
